EYELASH EXTENSIONS:

WHAT ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

Eyelash extensions are individual, semi-permanent lashes of varying lengths, thicknesses, curvatures, and colors designed to attach to your own natural lashes to create longer, thicker, fuller, and curlier eyelashes. The application is customized to meet your specific needs and style.

ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS FOR ME?

Eyelash extensions are the hottest trend in the beauty industry. They are practical and convenient, and instantly give you sexier, younger, and refreshed-looking eyes. The look and feel are completely natural-looking and real. Experience the joy of waking up in the morning looking “done”, as you will no longer need to curl and apply coats of mascara!

WHAT ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS MADE OUT OF?

Eyelash extensions are made of synthetic silk and synthetic mink. They are soft, lush fibers with a high gloss finish. Eyelash extensions are thicker at the base and taper to a fine point. We carry various lengths, thicknesses, curls, colors, and styles in order to provide each woman with a unique and realistic look.

ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS SAFE?

Eyelash extensions will not harm or cause damage to your natural lashes because they are individually applied to your natural lashes using a specially formulated bonding material. The bonding material used is a quality adhesive that contains very low quantities of formaldehyde which, at ultra-low levels, is considered negligible and non-harmful. Most eyelash extension adhesives contain cyanoacrylate which makes the solution fast bonding, and carbon black which is for the dark mascara-like color. Eyelash extensions are not FDA approved because they do not come in contact with your skin. They are applied to your natural lashes about 1mm away from your skin to be able to follow the growth and bloom of your own lashes. Applying eyelash extensions requires skill and precision. Extensions should only be applied by a certified and trained eyelash professional.

HOW LONG DO EYELASH EXTENSIONS LAST?

Your natural eyelashes shed and go through a natural growth cycle. This cycle is predetermined by our genes, as well as our health and other factors. The average “lash life” is about 60 to 100 days and undergoes three growth phases. Your individual eyelash enters each phase at various times. When your natural eyelashes mature and fall out, new lashes have already started growing. Eyelash extensions are applied to the lashes that are in the middle growth phase because they can support the length and weight of the extensions, and will prolong the amount of time they will last without interrupting the health of new lashes. When properly applied and cared for, eyelash extensions will last 2+ weeks. As your own lashes shed, expect to lose some extensions as well. Please refer to the care and maintenance instructions on how to properly care for your lashes.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I CAN WEAR EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

Anyone can enjoy the benefits of eyelash extensions. However, not everyone is an ideal candidate. If the following conditions pertain to you, this service is not recommended:
• If you suffer from seasonal allergies or have a tendency to frequently rub your eyes
• If you are allergic to adhesives or latex

• If you have a condition that affects hair growth

• If you cannot close your eyes fully for 2+ hours

• If you cannot lay still for 2+ hours
• If you have any medical illnesses or are undergoing chemotherapy
• If you are pregnant or recently had surgery, please seek your doctor’s approval

CAN YOU DESCRIBE THE APPLICATION PROCESS?

The application process is very relaxing, just like receiving a spa service. You will lie back on a plush table and have your eyes closed the entire time. The application is very gentle and can be best described as though someone is gently brushing through your lashes. The service generally takes between 2 hours to 3 and a half hours to apply a full set and refills can be done in as little as 1 hour to 2 hours. The procedure is so relaxing and comfortable that many clients fall asleep.

HOW OFTEN DO I NEED REFILLS?

To maintain your eyelash extensions, touch-ups are recommended every 2-4 weeks to keep your lashes looking full and beautiful.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR AN APPOINTMENT?

To maximize time with your lash stylist, come to your appointment with clean eyes, free of makeup.
• Remove all make-up, including foundation, eyeliner, eye shadow, mascara, eye creams and eye serums.
• Second cleanse eye area and eyelashes gently but thoroughly to remove residual oils or mascara.
• Shower before your arrival.
• Do not wear contacts to your appointment. Wear glasses instead.
• Do not apply heavy creams, lotions or oils to your face within 48 hours prior to your eyelash application.
• Do not receive chemical treatments to your eyelashes, such as tinting or perming, within 48 hours prior to your appointment.
• Ensure you have fully recovered from recent irritating eye area treatments, such as chemical peels, brow waxing, laser treatments and/ or permanent makeup application. Recovery time varies with each procedure and individual.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

Even though eyelash extensions are easy to maintain, proper care and maintenance will maximize the life of your lash extensions. Certain activities can weaken the adhesive bond and result in premature loss of your lash extensions.
• Do not get your lashes wet for the first 24-48 hours
• Do not use a spa, hot tub, steam room, or a pool for the first 24-48 hours

• Do not use a sauna or take super hot showers, the steam can affect the bond of the adhesive

• Do not run water directly on your lashes
• Avoid rubbing, pulling, or picking your lashes

• Clean your lashes every day with an oil free foaming cleanser. Check out the shop to purchase a recommended one!
• Do not use an eyelash curler
• Try sleeping on your back so that your lashes are left untouched by the pressure of the pillow

• If you can, purchase a silk pillowcase. Cotton pillow cases can pull and tug at the extensions causing them to fall out. Check out the shop to purchase one!

• Do not use eye masks
• Avoid oil-based eye care products and oil-based makeup removers
• Use a small Q-tip to carefully clean around your eyes when removing eye makeup
• Avoid the lash line when applying facial and eye creams

CAN I USE MASCARA WITH MY EXTENSIONS?

Mascara is not needed with eyelash extensions since the extensions give the illusion of wearing mascara. Wearing mascara with a set can affecct the retention of your lashes.

HOW DO YOU REMOVE EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

Do not attempt to remove the eyelash extensions on your own as this can cause damage to your natural lashes. If you need or want them removed, come in and let us professionally remove them. Otherwise, you can let the eyelash extensions slowly fall out by themselves, which typically takes about one - two months.

WHAT IS A BROW LAMINATION?

Brow lamination is basically a perm for your brows, as it gives them a set, uniform shape for an extended period of time. Instead of curls, a setting lotion helps brow hair stay brushed up and lifted upward for about six weeks

WHAT IS A BROW LAMINATION?

Eyebrow tinting is the process of applying semi-permanent dye to enhance shape and to define your brows. Tinting manipulates the brow area by darkening the fine hairs that surround the perimeter of the brow to increase the width. It attaches itself to the hairs not the skin, so once you wash you face a few times you may notice it becomes lighter. If you don't have very many eyebrow hairs, HENNA BROW is recommended.
